Raymond Walls, Sr., age 93, of Mahnomen, MN, and formerly McIntosh, MN, passed away on Thursday, October 15th, at Mahnomen Health Nursing Home in Mahnomen, MN. No services will be held at this time. Raymond Leon Walls was born on December 12, 1932, in Calumet, Oklahoma to parents William and Winifred “Winnie” (Belcher) Walls. He grew up in Arizona and eventually moved to Oregon.

Raymond entered the United States Marines in April of 1955 and received his honorable discharge in March of 1959. At that point, he returned to Oregon. It was here that he met and married Frances Smith.

Raymond worked in a chroming shop and then for Motor Cargo Trucking which brought them to Reno, Nevada. It was in Reno where they raised their family and spent the majority of their lives. In 1994, they moved to McIntosh. Frances passed away 12 years later, on November 22, 2006. Ray continued to live in McIntosh until poor health required him to move to the Mahnomen Health Nursing Home in 2023.

He loved to work on cars, build go-carts, loved watching “Married with Children” on tv. He was known to have a killer sense of humor.

Survivors include four children, James of Clear Lake, MN, Steven (Chris Fields) of Mesquite, NV, Linda (Blaine) Manz of Dayton, NV, and Dawn (Ray) Vasend of Brooks, MN; daughter-in-law, Diane Walls of Winger, MN; 11 grandchildren, Heather, Chelsea, Christopher, James, Nic, Bethany, Stephen, Corey, Staci, Leif, and Odin; five great grandchildren, Lexi, Aden, Charlie, Wyatt, and Giovanni. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; daughter, Debra; son, Raymond, Jr.; grandson, Robert Churley; daughter-in-law, Wanda; and siblings, Mike Walls, William “Dub” Walls, James Walls, and Mary Smith.
