Richard A. Erickson, age 60 of Grand Forks, ND and formerly from Salol and Erskine, MN passed away on Wednesday, August 20th at his home in Grand Forks. A memorial graveside service will be held on Monday, August 25th at 2:00 PM at Broderheim Cemetery, rural Erskine with Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Erskine assisted the family with the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.carlinhoialmen.com.Richard Andrew Erickson, the son of Edwin and Alice (Ruth) Erickson, was born on February 27, 1954, and was raised near Erskine, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Rodnes Lutheran Church and graduated from Erskine High School in 1972.Richard worked for Arctic Cat of Thief River Falls, MN, and Fertile Flow of Crookston, MN, for several years. In 1987, he and his family moved to Salol, MN, and worked for Marvin Windows and Doors for 22 years. Due to health issues in 2009, he was unable to continue working. In 2011, he moved to Grand Forks, ND, to be closer to his children.Richard enjoyed mechanical work and was an avid inventor. He had a talent for turning many miscellaneous parts into usable machines. He had many various interests which ranged from learning about topics in Science to working on cars. In his last few years, even though he was in terrible pain, he still was able to maintain a great sense of humor and loved visiting with his friends and family. Richard also enjoyed many simple things such as sitting around the campfire and talking with friends, watching the Twins play baseball, and rooting for his favorite NASCAR driver, Jeff Gordon.On Wednesday, August 20, 2014 Richard passed away at his home in Grand Forks at the age of 60 years.He is survived by his son Andy and daughter Marcy, both of Grand Forks, ND; his brother Robert of Moorhead, MN; his sisters Donna Boehm (Al) of Pick City, ND, and Elaine Paulson of rural Erskine, MN; grandchildren Anthony, Alexys, and Jayden; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and brothers Harold and Clayton Erickson.
