Robert Klade, age 70, formerly of Thief River Falls, MN and McIntosh, MN, passed away on Thursday, February 29th, at Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9th, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston with the Rev. John Ragan officiating. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the Army National Guard Honors Team. Robert John Klade was born on April 26, 1953, in Madison, Wisconsin to parents Francis Weitzel and Eileen Guethlein Weitzel. He grew up in Tomahawk, Wisconsin and graduated from Tomahawk High School in 1970.
Bob entered the United States Army in October of 1970 and was tasked as a helicopter repairman. He received his honorable discharge in April of 1972. Upon discharge, Bob resided in Denver, Colorado. He worked for Polaris in Denver and then owned and operated High Country Recreation for several years.
He was united in marriage to Annette Conrad on December 19, 1987, in Denver. To this union, three children were born, Destiny, Brandon, and Dylan. They lived in Denver until 1994 when they sold the business and Bob took a job with Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls. In December of 2012, Bob lost his eyesight. In 2014, they moved to McIntosh. In June of 2023, because of declining health, Bob moved to the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston where he resided until his passing on February 29, 2024.
Bob liked to hunt, fish, racing snowmobiles and four-wheelers and motocross. He loved anything outdoors. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Annette, of Fargo, ND; children, Tara Klade (Eric) of South St. Paul, MN, Destiny Klade (Jesse) of East Grand Forks, MN, Brandon (Kristin) Klade of McIntosh, MN, and Dylan Klade of Gully, MN; grandchildren, Trina (Jacob) Armstrong, Sterling Klade, Mercedes Klade, and Willow Rose Klade; and one great granddaughter, Koda Armstrong.
Also surviving are siblings, Francis (Kathy) Weitzel of Raytown, MO, James Guethlein of Knoxville, TN, Cheryl Marling of Chatham, VA, and Kim Schwartz of Merrill, WI. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Sharon Starry.
