Ruby
Christianson
June 9, 1943 – February 23, 2026
Ruby Violet (Grimm) Christianson, age 82, passed away peacefully on February 23rd with her family by her side. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 12th, at Sand Valley Lutheran Church in Trail. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Thursday morning (March 12th) at the church. Arrangements are pending with Carlin Family Funeral Service of Fosston and messages of condolence may be shared at www.carlinfuneral.com.
Ruby Violet (Grimm) Christianson was born on June 9, 1943, in rural Oklee, Minnesota, to Orville and Marie (Magoon) Grimm. Ruby was united in marriage to Irvin Christianson in 1961. The couple established their home north of Fosston, where they were married for 64 years and created a home. Together they maintained a beautiful property, vast flower and vegetable gardens, and their Christmas decorations could be viewed for miles.
Ruby was never one to sit still. In the 1970s, she worked the potato harvests for Bennett Osmonson and spent time serving the community at Louise’s restaurant. She later worked for Tri-Valley Cleaning before successfully launching her own independent cleaning business.
At home, the kitchen was Ruby’s happy place. Whether she was canning harvests with Irvin or pulling a fresh batch of treats from the oven, she ensured no guest ever left her house hungry. Ruby loved to serve others, especially her family.
For her grandchildren, Ruby’s home was a place of adventure. Memories were made playing "cops and robbers" in the playhouse, riding four-wheeler, and braving the hill on the banana bike. Christmas was always a special time at Grandma Ruby’s; she would prepare beds for all of the grandchildren to sleep side by side in the living room, Santa would visit but never get caught in the act, and for breakfast she would prepare her special concoction of Rice Krispies with extra sugar and cream.
In their later years, Ruby and Irvin cherished the company of their neighbors, Scott and Jodi and Edward and Judy. They frequently went for drives in their “old cars” and out for supper.
Ruby’s memory is held dear by her children: Sue (Dave) Sorvig of Williams, MN; Wanda (Joe) Manecke of Fosston, MN; and Travis Christianson of Fosston, MN. Sister Pearl Johnson and Sister-in-law Delores Grimm. Grandchildren Amanda (Matthew) Kvien; Shena (Devyn) Brandt; Levi (Julia) Nelson; Ciscely (Matthew) Harrison; Dustin (Sarah) Manecke; Tyler (Nicole) Manecke; Brianna (Cody) Olson; Alyssa Damm; and Isaac Christianson; Fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Irvin; son Scotty; sisters Janis Turner and Eileen Christianson; brothers Curtis, Duane, Doug, Daryl Grimm; and five infant great-grandchildren.
Blessed be her memory
