Ruby Gardner, age 92, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Thursday (June 26th) at First Care Hospital in Fosston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday (July 2nd) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston with Father Dave Super presiding. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Bagley, MN. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and sympathy messages may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Ruby Elvina Bardwell was born on August 30, 1915 in Sinclair Township, rural Clearwater County, Minnesota to parents Arthur and Minnie (Christianson) Bardwell. She attended rural school and moved to Bagley where she graduated from high school in 1931. She was united in marriage to Joseph Gardner on August 23, 1935 in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. After their marriage, they lived in Bagley until 1944 when they relocated to Crookston, Minnesota. Ruby worked at the Bethesda Nursing Home in Crookston for several years. In 1973, Joseph retired and they made their home at Maple Lake near Mentor, Minnesota. Joseph passed away on April 19, 1989.Ruby lived at the lake until moving to Fosston on March 1, 1994. She has lived at the Evergreen Apartments in Fosston since that time.She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mentor, was a member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters and a regular attendee at senior meals at the Embassy Center in Fosston for several years. She liked to embroider, quilt, garden, and do crossword puzzles. She also loved to read, spending many hours at the Fosston Library. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and keeping in touch with her grandchildren.Ruby passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at First Care Hospital in Fosston at the age of 92 years.Survivors include her four children, Linda Lunow of Half Moon Bay, CA, Joseph (Becky) Gardner of Naples, FL, Diane (Craig) Steele of Denver, CO, and Kathleen (Raymond) Thode of Mentor, MN; grandchildren, Craig Lunow, Kurt Lunow, John Gardner, James Gardner, Ria (David) Fewox, David Pickworth, Beth Pickworth, Jason (Linda) Gardner, Jeffrey (Kellie) Gardner, Jennifer Gardner, Sarah (Helmer Nyland) Thode, Julie (Scott) Eia, and Anna (Jeremiah) Gudvangen; great granddaughters, Hannah, Isabel, Kelsie, Sydney, Samantha, and Audrey; great grandsons, Matthew, Zachary, Alistair, Jordan, Matthew, Cole, and Tristan.Also surviving is one brother, Wayne (Helen) Bardwell of Show-Low, AZ; and one sister, Alice Berens of Fosston; daughter-in-law, Coral Gardner Hume of Limington, ME; brothers-in-law, Donald Mitchell of Fair Oaks, IN and Bill Torgerson of Gonvick, MN; sisters-in-law, Betty Bardwell of Bagley, MN, Ruth Bardwell of Grandview, WA, and Agnes Qualley of Park Rapids, MN. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Leslie; infant son, James; brothers, Floyd, Ernest, Clifford, Jesse, and Lyle; sisters, Gladys Tibbetts, Vivian Hofferber, Grace Mitchell, and Dorothy Torgerson; an infant brother; and son-in-law, Herman Lunow.Honorary Pallbearers will be Ruby's grandchildren and great grandchildrenActive Pallbearers will be Glen Bardwell, James Bardwell, Darrell Finseth, and Doug Kramer
