November 17, 1928 — March 30, 2015

Ruby Heideman, age 86 from McIntosh, MN passed away on Monday, March 30th at Essentia Health First Care Living Center in Fosston, MN. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 4th at 10:00 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh with Rev. Melody Kirkpatrick and Rev. Gordon Syverson officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 5:30 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh, and there will also be reviewal for one hour before the funeral at the church on Saturday morning. Interment will be at St. John's Cemetery, rural McIntosh. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home serving McIntosh is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent to carlinhoialmen.com.Ruby Pearl Syverson was born on November 17, 1928 in Hill River Township, rural Trail, Minnesota, to parents Theodore and Linda (Christianson) Syverson. She was baptized and confirmed at Vernes Lutheran Church. Ruby attended Lindsay School and graduated from McIntosh High School. Ruby was united in marriage to Curtis "Hector" Heideman on October 8, 1950 at Vernes Lutheran Church. Other than a year in Nebraska they made their home in McIntosh, Minnesota. Ruby worked as the secretary/bookkeeper of the McIntosh Winger School District from 1966 until her retirement in 1993.Ruby was very active in the church and community, including leadership positions at Our Saviors Lutheran Church where she was both the first female vice- president and later president of the congregation. Ruby enjoyed spending time with her neighborhood coffee "klatch", grandchildren and family members. Ruby was known for her large family meals, baking and Norwegian goodies. Her interest in flowers and gardening was evidenced by the numerous potted geraniums she placed in her yard year after year. Curtis passed away in 2002 and later Ruby moved into the Poplar Meadows Apartments in McIntosh which enabled her to be closer to many life-long friends. Ruby passed away on March 30, 2015 at First Care Living Center in Fosston at the age of 86. Ruby is survived by daughter Deb (Rick) Stainbrook of Park Falls, WI, son David (Lori) Heideman of Moorhead, MN; grandchildren Adam (Jenna) Stainbrook of Wausau, WI, Matt (Fiancé Rachel Williams) Stainbrook of Minneapolis, MN, Jessica (Jory) Gennett of Green Bay, WI, Lauren (Noah) Nash of Carlisle, PA, Joshua Heideman of Fargo, ND and Austin Heideman of Moorhead, MN; and great grandchildren- Keegan and Isaiah Nash.Also surviving are siblings Ardell (Lloyd) Opdahl, Entrip (Sharon) Syverson, Bernice (Jerome) Voxland, Gloria (Mark) Morque, Viola (Richard) Georgeson; sisters-in-law Delores Syverson, Conne Syverson, Corky Syverson, brother-in- law Morris Hendrickson; and many nieces and nephews.Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband Curtis; siblings Floyd Syverson, Verna Syverson, Lorraine and her husband Rueben Brekke, infant twins Morris and Doris, Eleanora Hendrickson, Arnold Syverson and Karsten Syverson; brothers-in-law, Clarence, Arnold and John Heideman, and sisters-in-law, Inez Heideman, Evelyn Wertish, Loretta Shoholm and Lorene Johnson.
