Ruby Virginia Dahlberg Wilde was born on March 13, 1923, in Hill River Township, Minnesota to parents Albin and Agnes (Halvorson) Dahlberg. She grew up in Hill River Township and attended country school in Hill River through the eighth grade. She walked two and a half miles each way, to and from school, with some cold winter days by horse and carriage. Ruby was a hard worker, helping on the family’s farm and also at the Olga Store (a general store not far from her home).
Ruby met her future husband, Milo Wilde, from the river valley area, north of Oklee. They were married on January 29, 1945, in Riverside, California where Milo was stationed at the time in the Air Force. They lived in Riverside until his military service took them to Hampton Beach, Virginia. While in Virginia, Ruby worked for a time in a local clothing store.
After Milo received his honorable discharge, they returned to northern Minnesota where they raised their family, living in McIntosh, Bagley, and Shevlin (from 1953-1972). In 1972, they moved to their farm southwest of Fosston. Milo passed away on September 7, 2003. Ruby continued to live at home until 2013 when she moved to Prairie Pines Assisted Living in Fosston. She lived there until the age of 98 when she transitioned to the care of Essentia First Care Nursing Home.
She was a member of New Journey Church. She and Milo were among the founding members of the Fosston Baptist Church (later, New Journey) and helped establish the local Christian radio station. Ruby led a simple, selfless life, dedicated to her Lord and her family. She was truly a servant and a “prayer warrior”. Ruby’s legacy lies in the wonderful example of a Christian woman she set for her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include six children, Janice Wilde of Bemidji, MN, Wayne (Deb) of Shevlin, MN, Jim (Ann) of Shevlin, MN, Dan (Lori) of Fosston, MN, Julie (Mick) Marino of Brainerd, MN, and Virgil (Bobbi) of Fosston, MN; 18 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren; one sister, Ramona Heden of Plummer, MN; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 59 years, Milo Henry Wilde; infant daughter, Delia; two grandsons, Timothy Wilde and Travis Wilde; baby great grandson, Gerald Wayne Hasbargen; and siblings, Delores, Pearl, Darlyn, JoAnne, and Russell.
