Ruth Anderson

Ruth Elaine Anderson, age 91, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Wednesday, August 27th at Essentia Health First Care Living Center surround by her family. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 6th at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston, MN with Pastor John Ragan and Pastor Janelle Hennanger officiating. Interment will be in the Kingo Lutheran Cemetery following the service. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Ruth Elaine Anderson was born on September 1, 1933 in Itasca County, MN to parents Delbert and Minnie (Stevenson) Olson. She graduated from Northome High School and later Bemidji State University with a degree in elementary education.

She was united in marriage to Norman Dale Anderson on July 12, 1958, in Bemidji, MN at First Lutheran Chapel. Norman and Ruth made their home in Fosston where they raised their three sons.

Ruth taught at Elementary Schools in Blackduck, Litchfield and Fosston, MN. Ruth said she chose the very best career and loved her time teaching her students. She retired from Fosston after 25 years.

She enjoyed traveling with Norman, family and friends and had the pleasure of visiting all 50 states at least once. They also made trips to Norway, Australia, New Zealand and several Caribbean Countries. Many of her cherished memories came for time spent at the family cabin in Canada, where there was laughter while fishing and snowmobiling.

Cooking, baking, and entertaining friends with beautiful table scapes was her passion. Her home was always decorated beautifully for every holiday.

Ruth was a lifelong member of Kingo Lutheran Church. She was also active in the community serving as a member of the Fosston Lengby Lions, the American Legion Auxiliary & many other community organizations throughout her lifetime.

Ruth is survived by her two boys. Dean (Betsy) of Fosston, MN; David (Anneliese) of Atlanta, GA. Three grandchildren Ashley (Ryan) Mitchell of Atlanta, GA; Zachary Anderson of Fosston MN; and Ana Anderson of Atlanta, GA. Two great grandchildren, McGuire and Grady Mitchell of Atlanta, GA. Sister-in-laws Aldora Anderson of Lengby, MN and Mavis Anderson of Fosston, MN; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, son Dale, her parents and her five siblings, sister in laws & brother-in-laws.

The family extends grateful thanks to the caregivers at Pine to Prairie Assisted Living and Essentia Health First Care Living Center of Fosston, for making her last years, months and days comfortable.
