Terry Sorenson

Terry Sorenson, age 64, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Tuesday, October 17^th, at Essentia Health Hospital in Fargo, ND. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28^th, at Samhold Lutheran Church in Gonvick, MN with the Rev. Will Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Clover Township Cemetery, Leonard, MN, at a later date. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday (28^th) at the church. The service will be live-streamed and available on the Carlin website. Terry Dean Sorenson was born on August 9, 1959, in Bagley, Minnesota to parents Larry and Maxine (Webstad) Sorenson. He grew up north of Gonvick and graduated from Gonvick High School in 1977.

Terry was united in marriage to Roxanne Engler on June 17, 1977. Prior to and after marriage, Terry worked for Roxanne’s father on his cattle ranch north of Gonvick. They moved to Arnegard, North Dakota and worked on a ranch for ten years and then to Tuttle, North Dakota where he managed a large cattle ranch for five years. They wanted to be closer to family so they returned to the area, eventually settling in Fosston in 1993. Terry worked for Lynn Vennes for ten years and then for Landsverk Dairy for the past 25 years.

Terry was a very hard worker and simply enjoyed farming and being outside. He loved his “four-legged girls” (his cattle), and was a very good mechanic.

Those that knew Terry, knew that he had a rough exterior but was a big teddy bear. He was a kind person. He liked spoiling his wife, Roxy, and enjoyed and loved his cat, Chester. Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with his grandsons. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Roxanne, of Fosston; his father, Larry (Jeanie) Sorenson of Gonvick; daughter, Nikki Sweno (Matt Smith) of Grand Rapids, MN; and son, Jeremy (Becky) Sorenson of Buchanan, ND; four grandchildren, Kolby and Kaleb and Jayden and Brynn; two sisters, Julie (Bob) Wagner of Gully, MN, and Stacy Halvorson (Gordy Sather) of Gonvick, MN; nieces and nephews, Darren, Dana, Breanne, Brittany, and Cody; and step brothers, Cory (Debbie) Moy of Gonvick, MN and Jeremy (Connie) Moy of Milaca, MN.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jason; mother, Maxine Sorenson (Ted Hamm); brother-in-law, Terry Halvorson; his grandparents; and father-in-law, Eddie Engler.
