Grace Johnson

Grace Johnson, age 95, formerly of the Fosston area, passed away on November 9, 2021, in Surprise, Arizona. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 14th, at the Carlin Family Funeral Home in Fosston with Pastor Seth Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Cross Lake Cemetery, rural Fosston. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Grace was born November 18, 1925, in Eddy Township, Clearwater County, Minnesota, the daughter of Christ and Clara (Heide) Johnson.  She was married to Leonard Johnson on April 14, 1944, in Bagley, Minn.  They resided in Bagley, Duluth, St Cloud, Clearwater, McIntosh, Minnesota, and Scottsdale, Arizona.  She moved to Scottsdale, Arizona permanently after Leonard’s death in 1991.

Grace worked as a waitress, retail clerk, and in an eyeglass manufacturing firm.  She enjoyed reading, embroidering, crosswords, Arizona road trips and spending time with family.

Survivors include daughter, Lenora (Gregory) Ortega of Scottsdale, AZ; sons Leland (Patricia) Johnson of Rice, MN, and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Johnson of Fontana, CA; grandchildren Amanda Ortega; Dwayne, Robert and Carrie Johnson; Jamie Johnson, Jennifer Nelson, Jeanette Johnson; Grace and Ginger Johnson; nine great grandchildren and sister-in-law Linda Johnson.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband; sons Leon Johnson and James Johnson; daughter Janice Theisen; granddaughter Linetta Kopecky; grandson Trent Theisen; brothers Christ Johnson and Harvey Anderson; and sister Myrtle Lee.
