Ronald Nyland, age 87, of Clearbrook, MN and Gully, MN, passed away on Wednesday, December 1st, at his home in Clearbrook. There will be no services at this time. Ronald Albert Nyland was born on August 22, 1934, in Eden Township, rural Gully, Minnesota to parents Albert and Grace (Melander) Nyland. He grew up in Eden Township, went to country school and Fosston High School. He finished his schooling at the Crookston AC.
After school, Ron farmed with his dad on the home farm area. He later worked for a couple of years on the Iron Range while he still kept farming with his dad, driving back and forth from the Range. Later, he worked for American Crystal Sugar and then for Land O’Lakes in Fosston for 25 years until the plant closing. In addition, he sold cars in Gully for 10 or 12 years. He kept busy in his later years helping Bryan on his farm.
Ron was married to Lucille Rydeen in 1955. They lived and raised their children on the Nyland home property. Ron and Lucille divorced in 1985. He met Janice Sundquist and they have been together for the past 30 years.
Ron enjoyed driving tractor and visiting with friends. He always remembered the grandchildren’s birthdays. He was a past member of Salem Lutheran Church in Eden Township, and current member of Lund Lutheran Church in Gully.
Survivors include four children, Mike Nyland (fiancé, Linda) of Clearbrook, MN, Bryan (Leasha) Nyland of Gully, Becky (Bob) Thompson of Buffalo, MN, and LezliDee (Phil) Ehlke of Bemidji, MN; sister-in-law, Rose Nyland of Clearbrook, MN; and nephew, David Mabrey of Sacramento, CA. 15 grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Christopher Nyland; brother, Wayne; and nephew, Bobby Mabrey.
